A lot has happened in the last five years since PROVINZ conquered the hearts of so many fans with their irresistible indie pop anthems from a small town in Upper Swabia. The endless summers of youth, filled with longing and boredom, are over. Vincent, Robin, Moritz, and Leon moved together from southern Germany to Hamburg in 2023. They have evolved, personally and as a band, thematically and musically. The sound on “Pazifik” is more complex than ever. Acoustic instrumentation artfully meets sparkling synthesizers, the mood is indigo blue. Everything is a little heavier and more introspective. But the hooks are catchy and the lyrics still close to the emotional world of their generation, between love and loneliness, fear of the future and tender hope.
To know where the journey is going, it’s important to know where you come from. The new single “Indigo” takes an emotional look back at youth – a musical love letter to the most formative time of life. PROVINZ say: “‘Indigo’ is a kind of declaration of love to our friends and experiences from our youth. And especially now, when you’re a few years older and look back, you realize that those were some of the most beautiful and important moments you had.” PROVINZ kicked off their album campaign in September with the release of the title single “Pazifik” – an intense song about the chasm that has opened up between two people who were once close. And now it lies there, cold and insurmountable.
With their third album “Pazifik,” PROVINZ are ready to take off again. Still with burning hearts and an attitude to life somewhere between the eponymous province and urban melancholy. But PROVINZ 2025 means a new beginning. Into the unknown. Out into a world viewed from new perspectives. So many steps further and still searching. Much has changed, but the most important thing has remained: PROVINZ write songs that you not only hear, but feel.
